The University of Konstanz, with its “Institutional Strategy to promote Top-Level Research”, has been receiving continuous funding since 2007 within the framework of the Excellence Initiative by the German Federal and State Governments.

The Deuerling Research Group at the University of Konstanz has two PhD Positions (50 %) and one Postdoctoral Position (100 %) in Proteostasis (Salary Scale 13 TV-L) available. The positions are to be filled as soon as possible.

The Deuerling Research Group has a longstanding interest in understanding the underlying principles of cellular proteostasis that regulate the functionality of the cellular proteome and thus ensure the vitality of the whole organism. Our work is embedded in the Collaborative Research Center 969 "Chemical and Biological Principles of Cellular Proteostasis" (http://www.sfb969.uni-konstanz.de/home/).

The research for the open positions in our lab will focus on the functions and mechanisms of molecular chaperones in proteostasis during health, aging and disease using yeast and the animal model C. elegans. Our lab covers a broad range of modern methodologies at the organismal, cellular and molecular level. We offer an open, inspiring environment in an enthusiastic and collaborative group. Detailed information about our research group and on recent publications can be found on our website (http://www.uni-konstanz.de/FuF/Bio/deuerling/home/).

The applicants should have a solid background in molecular biology and experience in cell biology, genetics, or biochemistry. Postdoc candidates should have demonstrated an outstanding performance by high impact publications and preferentially have a strong background in Bioinformatics. Beside creativity and strong motivation we expect good communication skills and the ability for teamwork. The positions are open immediately for three years with potential prolongation.

The University of Konstanz encourages disabled persons to apply. They will be given preference if appropriately qualified (contact +49 7531 88-4016 und 88-2834).
