Quality Management at the University of Konstanz

The QM concept

The University of Konstanz has established a Quality Management System (QMS) in each of the following areas: study and teaching, research and the advancement of junior researchers, equal opportunity, internationalisation and research support services. Quality management at the University of Konstanz is based on four main components:

Quality objectives

The mission statement of the University of Konstanz is the basis for the development of the quality objectives in all service areas. The processes of the University of Konstanz all work toward these quality objectives.

Clear structures and processes

As part of our process management efforts, processes are analysed, optimised and documented in our process portal in order to make them more clear and transparent to all.

Continuous monitoring, peer review and individual evaluations

We measure our success with the help of continuous monitoring, the regular evaluation of departments using a peer review process and individual, tailor-made evaluations.

Strategic dialogue between the Rectorate and departments

The Rectorate discusses evaluation results with the departments. Quality improvement measures are instated as needed. Our quality management work is based on the following principles:

  • participation
  • practical use
  • precision
  • communication and dialogue
  • clarity

The QMS and the individual measures it provides for are described in detail in the QM concept, which has been passed by the Senate and the Rectorate.
