FAQs

If I submit an idea, what will happen next?

Your idea is forwarded to the responsible university unit so they can check its feasibility and give you corresponding feedback; if applicable, also on the idea's implementation status. Irrespective of feasibility, a jury representing all status groups of the university will assess all ideas that are not submitted anonymously. Based on defined criteria the jury decides which ideas will win a prize – a Konstanz gift voucher.

More details on the processes are available in our process portal (uni network or VPN required).

Is there a prize for especially good ideas?

Yes. Irrespective of the idea's feasibility, a jury representing all status groups of the university will assess all ideas that are not submitted anonymously. Based on defined criteria the jury decides which ideas will win a prize – a Konstanz gift voucher.

An idea has to meet the following criteria:

  • Value for the University (financial savings, symbolic value, public image, improvement of study condtions, improvement of employee satisfaction, ...)
  • Degree of innovation
  • Reference to values and goals of the University (i.e. sustainability, advancement of internationalisation, improvement of condtions for science and research, ...)
  • Extend of creativity

What do I need to bear in mind when giving feedback?

Constructive feedback is helpful, destructive feedback only tears others down. We would like you to state your feedback as objectively and respectfully as possible. Describe the situation as clearly as possible so that it can be addressed constructively. We will not process feedback that does not meet these requirements or that is insulting, defamatory and/or highly subjective.

Moreover, we will delete all anonymous negative feedback that states names or refers to clearly identifiable persons (if it is not related to teaching activities).

What happens to my feedback?

Depending on the type of feedback, it is usually forwarded to the responsible unit, e.g. the department, the dean of studies of the department, division or department heads . If you name and praise a specific person in your feedback, this positive feedback will be passed on to the person concerned.

However, we will not process anonymous negative feedback that states names or refers to clearly identifiable persons, but immediately delete it (if it is not related to teaching activities).

How can I give feedback anonymously?

Simply select the corresponding feedback form. Please note: We will not process anonymous negative feedback that states names or refers to clearly identifiable persons, but immediately delete it.

Please note that we cannot guarantee complete anonymity if you submit your feedback online, as IT administrators can see who was logged into the system. Even if you do not provide personal data, the following data is still visible in the back end of the website: Login name / email address, given name and surname. This data is only visible in the back end of the website to IT admins. All admins are required to maintain confidentiality.

For completely anonymous feedback, you can submit your idea in a letter in an envelope addressed to "Ideen und Feedback, Postfach 231". Please put it in the university mailbox (currently located in front of the entrance to building V, level 5).

What happens to my data?

We treat all personal data with confidentiality. Personal data will only be forwarded to the university unit the feedback relates to if this is absolutely necessary for processing the feedback and you have given prior consent. The idea and feedback management team may act as a mediator to clarify the matter when feedback providers do not consent to sharing their names.

While the jury decides which ideas will receive a prize, your personal data remains exclusively with idea and feedback management. At no time does the jury know who has submitted which idea.

All personal data in connection with the submission of feedback is deleted immediately upon completion of the feedback process. Personal data in connection with the submission of ideas is deleted as soon as the award process is completed.

Please note: The idea and feedback management system is currently in a pilot phase. Starting April 2024 we will evaluate the process, make adjustments where necessary and decide about its continuation.
