Responsibilities

Advises university management as well as subject coordinators and university employees on all matters relating to occupational safety, health and safety in the workplace and the prevention of work accidents and work-related illnesses.

• Provides advice on all safety-related matters.
• Carries out inspections and works to eliminate safety defects.
• Provides work materials for risk assessments.
• Evaluates the working conditions at the workplace (e.g. noise, indoor climate, lighting, ventilation, hazardous materials, biological substances) and verifies individual parameters by taking measurements.
• Provides ergonomics advice (how to design the workplace, work flow and the work environment).

• Asbestos representative of the university - Advising members of the university on all matters relating to asbestos (but this does not include deconstruction, remediation or maintenance activities).
• Advising university management on the implementation of and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Advising supervisors on occupational health and safety and on the preparation of risk assessments, including risk assessment and appropriate measures.
• Advising employees on the design of healthy and safe working conditions and assisting in their enforcement.
• Implementing new and updated occupational health and safety legislation.

• Provides first aid.
• Organises the university's first aid resources (SEG (rapid intervention team), first responders, first-aid kits etc.).
• Processes accident reports, manages regulations.
• Manages the various occupational safety and hazardous materials databases.
• Manges and updates the unit's websites as well as the Ilias modules.
• Ensures that safety defects are eliminated.
