Legal requirements

Graduates of a German university who are not citizens of an EU-/EEA-country or Switzerland have almost unlimited access to the German job market and have priority over other non-EU citizens.

All academics with a recognised university degree or a university degree equivalent to a German one can apply for a residence permit for employment. Acces to the German labour market is also possible for their family members (spouses and children) who join them.
