Ontario/Baden-Württemberg Faculty Mobility Program

Funding for research visits at partner universities in Ontario

In conclusion, my time at McMaster University was fruitful and enjoyable. The experiences and connections made during my stay there gave me new insights into the international academic world. I am grateful for the support by the Faculty Mobility Program, and I would highly recommend this programme to others.

As part of the state program between Baden-Württemberg and the province of Ontario, Canada, the OBW Faculty Mobility Program strengthens the exchange of science and research in addition to the student exchange. Joint research projects intensify cooperation in the long term and build up a growing network. With the help of in-depth networking between researchers and lecturers, students can also be recruited for future exchanges.

The research fellowships are intended for the realization of a research project of one's own choice in cooperation with an academic host who provides the necessary research facilities at the host institute and is available as a contact person for the implementation of the research project. At least one public lecture at the host university is mandatory. To a limited extent, a teaching position can be pursued.

Academics with a clearly recognizable, independent academic profile can apply for a scholarship to support research stays of one to four months at a partner university in the province of Ontario.

The scholarship includes a monthly stipend of 1,200 euros plus a one-time travel allowance of 1,200 euros.

Information on how to apply can be found in the call for applications and the program guidelines.

Application open for 2025

Applications for research visits in 2025 can be submitted until 31 October 2024.
