Philosophy Beyond Borders

Academic philosophy is closely associated with the individual sciences in that as ascience theory, it contributes to the analysis of hypothesis formulation and theory development. Viewed formerly as a universal, today as a basic science, the question arises as to how philosophy can be positioned within the spectrum of university research, and how other disciplines can enter into a fruitful discourse with it. The Zukunftskolleg – a unique, interdisciplinary organization for the promotion of talented junior researchers – would like to set a discourse of this kind in motion. Most importantly in the process, research fellows of the younger generation have an opportunity to interact with internationally established researchers.
Type of event: We envision a 15 to 20-minute introductory lecture by two speakers, in which each presents their positionon a topic, followed by a moderateddiscussion between them. Questions and remarks from the audience are also taken into consideration. Each event is to last no longer than 90 minutes.

The Zukunftskolleg is happy to invite you to the discussion titled: "Mind and Brain. A conversation between a philosopher and a psychologist" between Dina Emundts, Professor for Philosophy and Philosophy of Science at the University of Konstanz and Simon Hanslmayr, Research Fellow at the Zukunftskolleg, Department of Psychology which will be moderated by Brian Leahy - Research Fellow at the Zukunftskolleg, Department of Linguistics.

It will take place on
