Non-Monetary Support

The Zukunftskolleg offers its junior researchers institutional support, for instance by offering individual guidance and support with all aspects of their career planning for the time during and after their Fellowship.

In the area of coaching and advanced training the Zukunftskolleg collaborates closely with the Academic Staff Development which is the central service unit of the University of Konstanz for human resources development, advancement of young researchers and teaching development. The Academic Staff Development team offers professional career counseling and coaching for junior researchers on all matters relating to an academic career and career development, e.g., in job-related decision-making processes, when assuming new (managerial) responsibilities, when applying for professorships, in coping with challenging phases in the qualification process or with regard to all questions of university teaching. Depending on the issue, consultation takes place in a single consultation, in a long-term individual coaching or in a peer-coaching format.

Science-related competencies across all disciplines may be gained and improved in the seminars and workshops organized by Academic Staff Development. Information sessions give comprehensive information on the German and international science systems. To obtain teaching competence, a broad scope of workshops as well as the "Baden-Württemberg-Certificate for Teaching and Learning in Higher

Education" are offered. In an initial meeting at the beginning of a fellowship the training and counseling needs of each fellow are discussed individually with one of the Academic Staff Development career coaches.

Before submitting a grant proposal, the Research Support Office offers a critical review of the draft proposal and organises a funding colloquium in which it is discussed with co-fellows and experienced researchers.
