3. Reasons for data processing

  • The data submitted by you via the application form is processed for the purpose of selecting and carrying out the teaching assistantships. Required information fields must be filled out in order to conclude a contract. Without this information, a candidate can not be selected for or carry out a teaching assistantship.
  • Select data is transferred to the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in order to ensure the appropriate use of funds and carry out statistical analysis. This data includes your first and last name, nationality, status at the university, gender, field of study, subject group, teaching project title and the funding duration and amount.

4. Legal basis

  1. The legal basis for processing data in the context of the selection process for the purpose of establishing an employment relationship and carrying out a teaching assistantship is Article 6 para 1 lit. e in connection with para. 3 GDPR in connection with § 15 LDSG (state data protection act) in connection with §§ 83 to 85 LBG (state civil service act).
  2. Transferring data to the DAAD

5. Recipients

Your personal data is transferred

  • within the University of Konstanz: to those persons in the International Office, Human Resources, and Financial Affairs units responsible for implementing teaching assistantships
  • to the funding institution, in this case:
    German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)
    Mobility Programmes and Student Support Services (P42)
    Kennedyallee 50
    53175 Bonn

6. Storage duration

Your personal data is stored for up to 10 years after the contractual relationship has ended.

7. Your rights

  • In accordance with Article 15 GDPR, you have the right to request information from the University of Konstanz about any data it stores related to your person and/or to have incorrect data rectified as per Article 16 GDPR.
  • You also have the right to demand that your data be deleted (Article 17 GDPR) or that the processing and use thereof be restricted (Article 18 GDPR), as well as to object to the processing and use of your data (Article 21 GDPR).
  • You have the right to withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing since consent was provided before its withdrawal (Article 13 GDPR).
