Klaus von Heusinger New Member of Academia Europaea

Senior Fellow Klaus von Heusinger was appointed as member in the section Linguistic Studies at the Academia Europaea. The institution that was founded in Cambridge in 1988 aims at promoting education and research in Europe as well as strengthening interdisciplinary and international scientific exchange. It consists of about 3.000 members coming from 35 European and eight non-European countries which includes leading experts from the physical sciences and technology, biological sciences and medicine, mathematics, the letters and humanities, social and cognitive sciences, economics and the law. In the invitation letter the president of the Academia Europaea Sierd Cloetingh stated that Klaus von Heusinger was chosen on the recommendation of the Academic Sections and following a peer review by the nominations committee of the Academia Europaea. Election is confirmed by the Council of the Academia. Klaus von Heusinger is professor of German Linguistics at the University of Cologne; he visited the Zukunftskolleg as Senior Fellow in 2010 and 2011.
