Associated Fellow Lothar Sebastian Krapp receives the KlarText Prize for Science Communication.

Scientific work in mathematics is usually a closed book for people who are not familiar with mathematics. Yet mathematics is omnipresent in everyday life. Algorithms in particular influence many decisions, whether they involve search engines on the Internet or route planners. Lothar Sebastian Krapp dedicated his doctoral thesis at the University of Konstanz to algorithms in mathematics. Together with five other award winners, he has now received the KlarText Prize for Science Communication by the Klaus Tschira Foundation for the successful presentation of his research in a way that is easy to understand for the general public.
