J. Worth Estes Prize for Beatriz Puente-Ballesteros

We congratulate Beatriz Puente-Ballesteros (Alumna / Dept. of History and Sociology) who was awarded the 2021 J. Worth Estes Prize at the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the History of Medicine on 14 May 2021.

She received the honour for her research work “Chocolate in China: Interweaving Cultural Histories of an Imperfectly Connected World” published in Harold J. Cook (ed.), “Translation at Work: Chinese Medicine at the First Global Age” (Leiden, Boston: Brill, 2020, pp. 58-107).

“The award is made annually for the best published paper during the last two years, and thus, I am really honored”, states Beatriz happily.

Beatriz Puente-Ballesteros was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Zukunftskolleg from September 2013 until August 2015. “During this time framework I started a research ("Chocolate Lesson in Harvard”) which continued years later and that now had just been awarded.”

Beatriz works as Assistant Professor for East-West Interactions & Exchanges at the University of Macau, China.
