University didactics consultation

Individual consultation

In our individual teaching consultation sessions, we help you develop tailor-made solutions for the specific issues and challenges you are facing when teaching. We help you define a concrete set of goals and provide university didactics expertise to help you reach them.

Most concerns raised in this area belong to one of the following:

Optimising your teaching and examination formats

Based on the skills that your course has been designed to promote , and taking into consideration both the setting and the teaching conditions, we help you to (further) develop suitable teaching and examination formats. This includes, but is not limited to, course dramaturgy, the specific use of suitable teaching methods or the integration of student performance assessments to promote better learning outcomes.

Further development of your teaching competency

While teaching at university, you will need to develop and professionalise your teaching competency. We provide information on the “Baden-Württemberg-Zertifikat für Hochschuldidaktik” (Baden-Württemberg certificate for university didactics) and help participants along the certification process. We are also happy to advise you on how best to use student feedback and teaching evaluations for your personal development as a teacher.

Structured certificate of your teaching competency

You should be able to provide convincing evidence of your teaching competency, especially in appointment and application procedures. In this context, we provide advice on the “Baden-Württemberg-Zertifikat für Hochschuldidaktik” (Baden-Württemberg certificate for university didactics) as well as on frequently used formats such as the teaching portfolio or trial courses.

Conditions

Our consultations are offered as the need arises. Depending on your concerns, we can offer up to three consultations.

Please take a moment to read our general terms and conditions.

Peer consultations

If you are teaching, you are likely to come across concrete questions or problems. Our practical consultations offer a moderated exchange platform for you to discuss your questions or concerns with your colleagues. Together, you will work towards finding a solution to your problem and define concrete steps for its practical implementation. Make the most of this opportunity to discuss things with your fellow lecturers. Peer consultations take place monthly. You may choose which consultation you want to take part in.

Please register on the programme pages of the Hochschuldidaktikzentrum Baden-Württemberg (centre for university didactics, HDZ). Please note: you must log in with your HDZ account to view available dates.

Our peer consultations are part of the “Baden-Württemberg-Zertifikat für Hochschuldidaktik” (Baden-Württemberg certificate for university didactics).

Peer observations

Peer observations will provide you with structured feedback from a colleague. Through a joint evaluation and feedback process, you will be able to expand your teaching competencies significantly.

Our peer observations are part of the “Baden-Württemberg-Zertifikat für Hochschuldidaktik” (Baden-Württemberg certificate for university didactics) and are video-based. If you have questions about the organisational aspect, please contact Sabine Mack.

Peer observation documents

Please consult our “Unterlagen zur kollegialen Lehrhospitation” (peer consultation documents) guide to access the necessary information about preparing, conducting and documenting your peer observation.

Submit documentation

If you are working towards a certificate, please submit a digital version of the completed documentation form to Sabine Mack.
