Dr. K. H. Eberle Prize and projects of the University of Konstanz

The purpose of the Dr. K. H. Eberle Foundation is to promote science and research. In order to realise the foundation's purpose, the foundation supports research prizes at the Eberhard Karl University of Tübingen, the DHBW Lörrach and the University of Konstanz for research projects and outstanding achievements. The selected projects are intended to initiate forward-looking ideas that contribute to answering social questions and thus have a social impact. In addition to research projects, the Dr K. H. Eberle Foundation also supports infrastructure projects at the University of Konstanz.

Both the research projects and the necessary infrastructure make an important contribution to the University of Konstanz's profile and further development.

FabLab Konstanz

With the FabLab Konstanz, the University of Konstanz is opening up to society and business: citizens of the region, children and young people, employees of companies, freelancers and the university are invited to familiarise themselves with and try out new production technologies. This offers them the opportunity to exchange ideas and, ideally, to realise new ideas.

Dr. K. H. Eberle Prize

The Dr. K. H. Eberle Prize is awarded according to the following criteria for the evaluation of research projects at the university:

  • Level of innovation, societal relevance and sustainability
  • Contribution to the continuous profile development of the University of Konstanz
  • Contribution to creating added value in the region as well as to internationalization

Target group are professors, junior professors and tenure-track professors as well as anyone with the status of "independent postdoctoral researcher at the University of Konstanz" in any department at the University of Konstanz are welcome to apply. The prize can be used to fund interdisciplinary projects, individual projects as well as the development of new or existing network research projects.

The selection process takes place in several stages: The Committee on Research (AFF) reviews all applications and makes a recommendation to the Rectorate; if applicable, on the basis of external reviews. Than, the Rectorate chooses applications from which the foundation selects the winner.

The Dr. K. H. Eberle Prize is endowed with 100,000 euros and is awarded annually. The next award will be announced in spring 2025.
