Five questions about Kinder-Uni

Where?

Kinder-Uni is held in various lecture halls at the University of Konstanz. To find out where each lecture takes place, check our Kinder-Uni course catalogue. Use our campus map to find your way to each lecture hall. On the day of each lecture, we will set up signs for you in the university’s foyer (the covered “sidewalk” area under the colourful glass roof).

What?

Each autumn since 2004, the University of Konstanz has offered three lectures especially for children. Find out about each event’s topic in the course catalogue. If you have trouble understanding some of the words or concepts associated with the university, you may look them up in the Kinder-Uni ABC (in German only). If you would like to remind yourself about what you learned in past years, just have a look at our past Kinder-Unis page.

Who?

A team of university scholars, scientists and staff organises the Kinder-Uni. Each year we look for new researchers who can explain exciting topics from their field of expertise to you.

How?

The Kinder-Uni lectures are free of charge. It is, however, important that you let us know you are coming, since space is limited. Your registration is regarded as binding confirmation that you will be attending the event. If, however, something prevents you from being able to come, please send us a short email or give us a call to let us know. Other children, still on the waiting list, will be more than happy to hear that space has opened up for them. Register for Kinder-Uni here! You can learn more about science afterwards on our Young explorers website (in German only).

Who can take part?

The Kinder-Uni lectures are open to schoolchildren grades 3-6. Since they last about an hour, the lectures are not suitable for younger children. Space at the University of Konstanz’s Kinder-Uni is reserved specifically for you. Grown-ups (parents, grandparents or other adults) may not take part in the lectures.
