An essential strategic pillar in the Exzellenzstrategie

Equal opportunities at the University of Konstanz are an essential factor contributing to the university’s success in the German Excellence Initiative as well as the German Exzellence Strategy. The university’s equal opportunities programmes and projects were expanded and improved, due in large part to the Institutional Concept “University of Konstanz – creative.together".

Targets, strategies and measures

Advancing equal opportunities and a positive climate for diversity are key pillars of our excellence in research, teaching and transfer. Thus, the University of Konstanz strives for the goal of 50% female participation at all levels of qualification, and of 35% for female professors.

  1. we will reinforce existing fair and gender equitable structures across all university levels and raise awareness for any forms of explicit or implicit discrimination
  2. we will further promote family friendliness and diversity to foster an inclusive culture that encourages excellence
  3. we will increase female participation, in particular in our recruitment efforts and at the professorial level
  4. we will further empower female early career researchers to pursue academic careers

Equal opportunities in university institutions funded by the Excellence Initiative

Ensuring equal opportunities and support for families are also explicit goals in our institutions funded by the Excellence Initiative:

GEx - equal opportunities at Universities of Excellence

The University of Konstanz actively participates in the network of equal opportunities professionals at former and current Universities of Excellence (GEx).

The network focuses on discussing equal opportunities goals, strategies and measures in the context of the German Excellence Initiative. It also collaborates on quality assurance and the development of processes to ensure equal opportunities.

GEx works in close cooperation with the DFG, the German Council of Science and Humanities, CEWS/gesis and other relevant research institutions.
