How we support refugees

We at the University of Konstanz think it is important to take on our social responsibility during the current debate about refugees and assist refugees. With our expert knowledge in research and teaching we strive to improve the situation of refugees, we eliminate barriers to studying and participating in events and share our infrastructure.

We have coordinated a new concept to support refugees interested in education in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz (HTWG) and training institutions in the administrative district Konstanz. A three-phase-model offering refugees access to training and studying as well as to educational opportunities lies at the heart of this concept. The concept has been submitted for funding to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (MWK).

For years, our Centre of Excellence for Psychotraumatology has offered a point of contact for traumatised persons from crisis regions. In addition, student initiatives assist the refugees when they arrive in Germany and help them adjust to everyday life here.
