Academic Sports Service of University of Konstanz

General Terms and Conditions of Business:

The Hochschulsport Konstanz, with its sub-sections:

uniEvent | uniFamily | uniFit | uniMotion | uniNature | uniSport | uniTournament | uniVenture

as well as the current projects: Active Campus Konstanz | Uni-Liga Konstanz is an institution of the University of Konstanz that offers a wide-ranging sports and leisure programme for students and employees of the university and other Konstanz universities.

The focus of the sports programme is on broadly sports-oriented games and sports with qualified instruction. However, there are also opportunities for free sporting activities without instruction. Furthermore, there are numerous courses that impart theoretical and practical knowledge in the respective sports. A number of events are performance-oriented, including competitive sports.

The Hochschulsport Konstanz is responsible for the administration of the university sports facilities, and specific rules and regulations apply at the university sports facilities. The applicable court regulations are posted at the respective locations and are accepted with the use of the respective facility and, if applicable, the purchase of tickets.

§ 1 - Registration

Participants must register for the events. Registration is only possible online via the website of the Academic Sports Service of the University of Konstanz. A corresponding registration button can be found under the respective event description.

If the button says "Book course", there are free places in this course. After clicking on "Book course", an online form will appear which must be completed. The course fee will be debited from the account to be specified.
If the button below the course is red and labelled "Waiting list", all course places are taken and only entry in the waiting list for this course is possible. If a course place becomes available, a message is automatically sent to everyone on the waiting list. Whoever is the quickest then has the chance to take the course place that becomes available.

After a successful course booking, a confirmation email will be sent (if the email address is correct). The confirmation that appears on the screen can also be printed out via the browser or saved as a screenshot / pdf file.

§ 2 - Eligibility to participate

Students and employees of the University of Konstanz and other universities in Konstanz are primarily authorised to participate in events of the Academic Sports Service.

Students must bring their student ID, work ID and participation ticket to each event and present them upon request in order to verify their eligibility to participate. Persons without authorisation are not permitted to enter the sports hall or the outdoor sports facilities of the University of Konstanz. This also applies to events organised by the Academic Sports Service in the municipal sports halls.

Students who are not enrolled at the University of Konstanz or the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz can also register, their status is then "students of other universities". The conditions are the same as for Konstanz students with the exception that they are not insured by the Academic Sports Service.
The participation of students under the age of 18 is only possible with the written consent of a parent or guardian.

If the capacity of the events or programmes allows, guests, i.e. people who do not belong to the University of Konstanz or the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz, can also be admitted to numerous events as participants.
Online registration for guests is only possible after the official start of registration (1st October | 1st April), usually two weeks (15th October | 15th April) later.

Guests must pay an increased participation fee. This can be seen at the individual events. The organiser does not provide insurance cover for guests. For more details see §6 Insurance / Liability.

§ 3 - Costs

The participation fees charged vary according to group size, duration of the event, cost of materials, etc. The contributions to expenses or fees are generally due upon registration. They are debited from the specified SEPA account during online registration.

If the account does not have sufficient funds, fees will be charged to the account holder for each booking. These are chargeback fees charged by the banks. The Academic Sports Service has no influence on the amount of these fees.

If an event is cancelled, e.g. due to insufficient bookings or if the course instructor is unable to attend, the amount paid will be refunded. Further claims of the registered participants are excluded.

The Academic Sports Service reserves the right to adjust the amount of course fees, contributions towards expenses or other fees: For courses and excursions at the start of the new booking period, for ongoing contracts at the next possible (automatic) renewal date.

The following applies to all cancellations:
If the vacant place can be filled again, only the processing fee of €10 will be charged.

As the organiser, the Academic Sports Service generally recommends taking out travel cancellation insurance, especially for events lasting several days (e.g. trekking, international tournaments, ski and snowboard weeks, sailing trips, etc.).

  • Due to bad weather conditions, a change of location is also possible at short notice for excursions in the uniNature: mountain sports, snow sports, water sports sections; this does not justify cancellation.

Bad weather, avalanche danger, early departure or non-arrival, weather-related closures, closures of ski runs, etc. do not entitle the holder to a refund.
  • Premature cancellation of contracts for the use of the uniMotion fitness centre is not possible. The initial term of membership is 6 months. It is automatically extended for an indefinite period. A monthly right of cancellation applies during the renewal period. Cancellation must be made 15 days before the end of the term in order to take effect the following month. Cancellations must be made in written form. This can be done on the website of the Academic Sports Service or by email.
  • Premature cancellation of the sportABO membership contract is not possible. The membership is automatically renewed for the new semester. The initial membership of the sportABO or the renewal of the sportABO can be cancelled in writing - by email or cancellation form - at any time up to 15th of September (summer semester) / 15th of March (winter semester).

If the person who withdraws proves that the University of Konstanz suffered no or significantly less damage as a result of the withdrawal than is to be compensated by the flat processing and cancellation fee, the demonstrably lower damage shall be reimbursed instead of these fees.

§ 6 - Insurance / Liability

  • Students enrolled at the University of Konstanz and the University of Applied Sciences Konstanz are insured by the Baden-Württemberg Accident Insurance Fund against sports accidents and direct commuting accidents when participating in official, supervised sports activities organised by the Academic Sports Service of the University of Konstanz. The insurance does not cover free sporting activities outside of the organised programme on the facilities of the Academic Sports Service of the University of Konstanz.
  • Employees of the University of Konstanz are covered by statutory accident insurance against sports accidents and direct commuting accidents as participants of the Academic Sports Service in Konstanz in accordance with the principles of insurance cover for company sports.During competitions, employees are not legally insured against sports and commuting accidents. There is also no accident insurance cover for courses offered by the Academic Sports Service outside of the regular popular sports programme. We recommend taking out accident insurance with a private insurance company for such courses outside of the regular popular sports programme.
  • For civil servants, an accident in the context of the Academic Sports Service of the University of Konstanz is not considered a work-related accident.
  • Guests are not insured by the University of Konstanz against sports and commuting accidents. If they participate in the Academic Sports Service, they undertake not to assert any claims for damages against the state of Baden-Württemberg, against the University of Konstanz and its members or against trainers and persons commissioned by the University of Konstanz in connection with the exercise of sports. This does not apply in the case of intentional injury to life, limb or health or for foreseeable damages typical for this type of contract.
  • All participants in the Academic Sports Service are advised to take out private liability insurance in the event that third parties suffer personal injury or property damage while participating in sports. For participation in events organised by the Academic Sports Service of the University of Konstanz in countries that are not members of the European Union (e.g. Switzerland), it is strongly recommended that you take out additional health insurance.

When travelling with University Sports Konstanz to international tournaments, each participant should register with the foreign service of the Federal Foreign Office, depending on the current political situation in the country of travel.
