Uncertain Europe

Public lecture in the Konzil building: Euroscepticism and the future of European integration

The European Union is headed for turbulent times. Times in which deep-seated differences of opinion exist about how the region’s future should develop. After more than a half century of integration, the political, economic and social fates of the member states have become intertwined with each other. At the same time, the member states have developed on dramatically divergent trajectories. The economic and political disparities have grown in a wide variety of areas including the economy, austerity measures, migration and human rights. What are the effects of this development on public opinion?

The Graduate School of Decision Sciences has invited Professor Catherine E. De Vries from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam to provide an overview of public opinion in Europe and to explain its effect on elections and on reforming the European Union. The lecture will take place 26 September 2018 at 18:00 in the Konzil’s Sigismundsaal. Admission is free; no registration required.
