The Sigmund Freud Prize for Academic Prose has been awarded by the German Academy for Language and Literature since 1964. It honours scientists or academics who use an outstanding German language style, thereby driving the development of language in their field of study or research. The prize is provided by the HSE Foundation and awarded every year during the autumn convention of the German Academy for Language and Literature in Darmstadt. Since 2013, the prize has been endowed with 20,000 euros.
