Speaker:

We drown in data but starve for knowledge. Diverse high-throughput methods generate huge data sets containing information about biological entities and processes. This data can span multiple hierarchies of information starting from cellular levels (genes, poteins, RNAs, metabolites) to individuals (animals, plants) and their collective behaviour or interaction with each other. The high level of heterogeneity mounts barriers for analysing this massive data treasure. Big data analysis problems emerge at different layers of Integrative Bioinformatics, which aims to integrate, align, model and simulate these data to generate deep insight into complex biological systems.

This 16th Symposium on Integrative Bioinformatics will be of interest to bioinformaticians, computer scientists, biologists, and others working or interested in the developing area of Integrative Bioinformatics. The meeting will provide an excellent environment and a range of opportunities to present and discuss methods, theoretical approaches, and their practical applications. For CASCB researchers the topics "Computational methods for animal behaviour”, "Database integration in the life sciences”, "Formal modeling of collective systems”, "Modelling and simulation frameworks” as well as "Visual and immersive analytics for Biosciences” could be some highlights!
