How science can thrill a large audience has been shown by the 'Lange Nacht der Wissenschaft' (long night of the sciences) in Konstanz since 2010.
With visitor numbers as high as 7,000, the event has developed into a popular guarantor for success well-known beyond city boundaries. On Saturday, 13 May 2017, the fourth edition of this joint major event, entitled 'Wissenschaft bewegt' (science thrills), will take place – including the final party on Mainau Island. The 'Lange Nacht der Wissenschaft' is organised by the city of Konstanz, the University of Konstanz, the Hochschule Konstanz University of Applied Sciences (HTWG), the Thurgau University of Teacher Education (PHTG) and Mainau Island.
The 'Lange Nacht der Wissenschaft' will surprise, astonish and move its visitors – and has lined up a broad range of programme highlights: around 140 presentations by scientists, experiments with wow-factor, guided tours, exhibitions, information booths and several hands-on activities for both adults and children are waiting to be discovered. The supporting programme offers treats for eyes and ears.
A new event location has been added to the known locations – the University of Konstanz, the HTWG, Mainau Island and the 'Kulturzentrum am Münster', where the city of Konstanz and the PHTG will host their events: on board of the passenger ship 'Überlingen', the 'Bodensee-Schiffsbetriebe (BSB)' will explain why moving on water is a science in itself.
This year, too, one of the absolute highlights will be the joint party on Mainau Island where the guests can enjoy themselves and dance to music by the Konstanz jazz and hip-hop band 'Beyond Headlines'. All events are free of charge.
