Statement on the protests in Iran
The University of Konstanz continues to follow the recent developments in Iran and at Iranian universities with great concern. We support the current position of the German Bundestag, that stands in solidarity with the protesters in Iran, and strongly condemn any violence against the protesters and especially the repression against universities in Iran.
The commitment of Iranian students and researchers to stand up for freedom and against oppression is remarkable. Freedom, justice and diversity are indispensable foundations for democracy and peace, for society, and also for research. We support the ideals of the movement and stand united with all university members in Iran as well as our fellow Iranian students and colleagues at universities around the world. We demand an immediate end to the violence and repression against universities, their students and researchers.
