Advanced Safety Sciences for Medicines – Master of Science

You have to document your English language skills, for example through IELTS (minimum score: 7) or an equivalent language test.

Biological Sciences – Master of Science

Foreign language skills
You have to provide documentation of advanced English language skills, minimum level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, documented by either:

  • TOEFL-Test (Test of English as a Foreign Language), minimum 90 points (internet based)
  • Cambridge First Certificate in English, minimum grade C
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System), minimum result: band scale 6
  • Five years of continuous English lessons at a German secondary education school (also abroad) with a minimum grade of 7 points or 'satisfactory'.
  • Successful completion of a minimum of three courses held in English in a previous study programme.
  • We may test your English skills here at the University of Konstanz if they seem to be inadequate. In such cases enrolment depends on the result of the test.
  • English native speakers do not have to document their language skills.

German language skills
 International applicants do not have to prove their German language skills.

Chemistry – Master of Science

Foreign language skills
You do not have to proof any foreign language skills for the master's programme. However, as large parts of the research literature are written in English, good English skills are highly recommended.

German language skills
International applicants need documentation of their German language skills, level DSH-2 or TestDaF 4. Alternatively, other language tests or school certificates recognized as equivalent can be used as proof of the required German language skills. The University of Konstanz does not offer preparatory German language courses or approved German language exams. For this reason, you must submit accredited proof of your German language skills along with your application.

Classics and the Ancient Near East – Master of Arts

Für den Masterstudiengang Kulturwissenschaft der Antike müssen Sie einen Nachweis des Latinums und Graecums erbringen. Fehlende Nachweise können innerhalb der ersten zwei Semester nachgeholt werden.

Fremdsprachige StudienbewerberInnen brauchen einen Nachweis über deutsche Sprachkenntnisse auf dem Niveau der DSH-2 und TestDaF 4 oder einer als gleichwertig anerkannten Prüfung. An der Universität Konstanz ist es nicht möglich, einen studienvorbereitenden Deutschkurs zu absolvieren bzw. eine anerkannte Deutsch-Prüfung abzulegen. Daher muss bereits bei der Bewerbung ein anerkannter Nachweis vorgelegt werden.

  • Cambridge First Certificate in English: minimum grade: C
