All Covid-19 related regulations have been lifted.

Regulations can change at any time. The current entry regulations can be found on the website of the Ivorian government.

Entry and visa

Entry and visa

Entry

Entry into Côte d'Ivoire is possible for EU citizens with the following documents:

  •  Passport: Yes
  •  Provisional Passport: Yes, but not recommended
  •  Identity card: no
  •  Child Passport: Yes

Travel documents must be valid for at least six months beyond the end of the requested period of stay.

During regular police checks in the country, problems can arise with the provisional passport, as it is not as well known as the passport.

Visa

EU citizens need a visa to enter Côte d'Ivoire, which can be applied for before entering the country at the Embassy of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire or - if you have applied online beforehand - upon arrival.
The visa can be extended locally for a maximum stay of three months for a high fee.

Visa before entry

The visa before entry can be applied for in person at the Embassy of Côte d'Ivoire in Berlin and will be issued there for a fee of between € 50 and € 110 depending on the length of stay.

Online Visa (e-Visa)/Visa on Arrival

Alternatively, an e-Visa can be applied for online no later than three days before your planned departure. A visa will then be issued upon arrival at Abidjan International Airport.

This is how the online application works:

1. Pre-registration: snedai.com/visabiometrique/

The following documents are required:

  •     PDF passport
  •     PDF flight ticket
  •     Letter of invitation or confirmation of accommodation (Certificat d’hébergement)

Cost: €73 (Visacard or Mastercard)

2. Confirmation of pre-registration by email

A confirmation will be sent within 48 hours. Please print this out and take it with you, along with the confirmation that you have paid the fee!

3. Visa application at the airport

In the “Visa Aeroport” area at the destination airport, the pre-registration confirmation must be presented, fingerprinted and photographed. The visa will then be issued there immediately.

Medical precaution

Vaccination protection

According to the WHO, Ivory Coast is a yellow fever infection area. A valid yellow fever vaccination is required for all travelers from the age of nine months.

You can get a yellow fever vaccination from the company doctor at the University of Konstanz. They will then advise you on other vaccinations that are recommended for your trip.

Malaria

In terms of both morbidity and mortality, malaria is one of the most serious diseases in Ivory Coast. Throughout the country, including the cities, there is a high risk of malaria, primarily for the dangerous malaria tropica.

You should consider malaria prophylaxis. Information on this can also be obtained from the company doctor, Dr. Strauß.
