The DNT5 conference will start on Sunday, April 7, 2024 in the historical Council building (Konzil) in Konstanz.

To offer you an insight into the history of this location, the Council building was built from 1388 to 1391 by the city of Konstanz as a trading base with Italy and functioned initially as a warehouse. This is the place where later, between 1414 and 1418, the largest congress of the Middle Ages (the 16th Ecomenian Council for the election of a Pope) took place and ended the Great Schism of Western Christianity. The reason Constance was chosen for that special event was its internationality, wealth and the fact that it was already functioning as a bishop's seat. In addition, the city had enough hostels and suitable buildings and rooms, such as the "Council". Since the election of the Pope, the building has been called the "Konzil".

From 1968 to 1970, the Council building was renovated and transformed into a conference and festive building with sophisticated technology.
