What to do

If you do *not* want to record your course (temporary, synchronous course via web conference), then we recommend you send the data protection information to all participants via email.

Send all course participants a once-a-semester email informing them about data processing during the course and the conditions for participation (consent for data processing given by entering the web conference, recording prohibited).

Background information: For the temporary use of web conferencing tools in your courses, you are required to inform participants about the data processing that will take place during your course. It is sufficient to give students data protection information that also includes the following additional details.

1. Inform students that they give their consent to data processing by entering the web conference.

2. Please inform your students that their personal data will be processed/stored only temporarily for the duration of this synchronous class and that no one may record the course.

Please explain what options the students have to participate mutely and without being visible if they do not consent to having their personal data processed and thus cannot take part in the intended manner. (Please note: if you plan only mute participation without camera/chat for all participants, you do not need to do anything, since the data protection information for the web conferencing tools is easily available on the KIM website).
