17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations (UN)

One of the central goals of the 21st century is the sustainable development of society. Our university defines the term of sustainable development very broadly in accordance with the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations building on a globally shared and democratically legitimated understanding of sustainability.

We address the topic on two different levels:

1) How can our researchers contribute to reaching the goals of sustainable development – especially in their research, but also through teaching and transfer?

2) How can we as an institution become more sustainable?

Our Sustainable Development Working Group involving members from all groups of the university further intensifies efforts to reach these goals. The working group collects ideas, drafts concepts and writes recommendations for strategic decisions at the University of Konstanz in the area of sustainability.
