Core facilities, network and transfer platforms

The University of Konstanz is comprised of a wide network of research institutions. Our institutional strategy, the Center of Excellence "Cultural Foundations of Social Integration" as well as two graduate schools are being funded within the context of the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State Governments. Additionally, many Collaborative Research Centres (CRC), research units and centres are carrying out research at the University of Konstanz.

Core Facilities

Core facilities are financed with funds from the German Excellence Initiative. They provide researchers with access to special research infrastructure, while facilitating optimum collaboration and machine usage. Funding is approved by the university's Committee on Research (AFF) and lasts for a period of two years. Selection criteria include academic excellence, interdisciplinarity and external funding prospects.

Transfer platforms

Transfer platforms provide support to research projects involving partners from industry, public institutions or organisations and can be used to prepare innovative spin-offs. They are funded through the Excellence Initiative of the German Federal and State Governments.

Network platforms

Network platforms serve to initiate and intensify the scientific exchange with external partners. Often this leads to joint publications and projects. The networks are funded through the German Excellence Initiative and promote academic dialogue by providing the necessary support structures.
