Liane Wörner is professor of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law, Comparative Law, Medical Criminal Law and Legal Theory at the University of Konstanz since 2019. Since October 2022 she is Director of the Centre for Human | Data | Society. After studying Law at the University of Leipzig, she completed a master's degree at the University of Wisconsin Law School (thesis: The effectiveness of wiretapping and electronic surveillance). In 2009 she received her doctorate for a thesis on criminal law dogmatics at the Justus-Liebig-University of Gießen (thesis: The failed attempt, scl, awarded with the University price), followed by the habilitation on a medical criminal law topic in 2017 (thesis: Contradictions protecting life in criminal law). During her postdoc-time, Liane Wörner conducted an Institute-Partnership, financed by the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Foundation, on anchoring mechanisms in (criminal) law with the participation of 3 institutes and 45 scientists. Since 2017 she has been actively involved in the Global Diplomacy Lab (GDL). In the EU-funded project DIGICRIMJUS she has been developing a teaching and research program on "Digitization and Criminal Law" since 2020. She is a member of a working group "Law and Digitization (RuD)", Security Law and Criminal Law and as a DFG network member of the working group Normentheorie. Liane Wörner is currently the country rapporteur for Section II "Criminal Law Special Part Facing the Challenges of Digitalization" of the Association Internationale De Droit Pénal and has been a Member of the Scientific Committee of the international association since 2020. Liane Wörner has expert knowledge in Digitalization and Datafication in Law, Legal Theory and Comparative Law. Her research is focused on the impact of the increasing datafication and digitalization on and in the Criminal law from a both comparative and interdisciplinary perspective, especially shifts of responsibility and accountability related to the technization. She examines the further development of dogmatics, the development of criminal constitutional law, medical criminal law cluster initiative and the legal-theoretical fundamentals in the national, european and international context.
