Poster Session 2023

Poster Awards for Simone Giulio Bordignon, Rebecca Dorendorf, and Niharika Savant Lerner
19.07.2023:
This year’s poster session can be filed as an all-around success!  Held together with the Department of Biology on a perfect summer day by the lakeshore, we had an attendance of almost 200 people.  More importantly, however, we had a record of 47 scientific posters presented by PhD students, coming both internally from the University of Constance and from external research institutes.  People mingled for hours and lots of engaging scientific discussions as well as laughter could be overheard.  The evening was concluded by a little award ceremony for the 3 highest rated posters.  The prizes herefore were generously sponsored by the Biology department.

This year’s awards went to Simone Giulio Bordignon (AG Meyer) for her poster titled “Fins from scales? A Look on the development and evolutionary origin”, Rebecca Dorendorf’s (AG Epp) poster “The rise of quagga mussels and how to trace them with sedimentary DNA“ and Niharika Savant Lerner’s (AG Isono) poster titled “Investigating the molecular mechanism of autophagy in Arabidopsis thaliana”.   We would like to take the opportunity to once again congratulate this year’s poster award winners.

We are already looking forward to seeing many of you again next year!

Poster Session 2022

Poster Awards for Dennis Horvarth, Marleen Herbinger, and Soo Hyun Im

20.07.2022 Fortunately after the Corona break, this year's poster session took place together with the “summer party” of the Biology Department. This year's presented posters have aroused high interest, bringing many visitors to the lakeshore of the University of Konstanz on July 20, 2022. In total, ten PhD students of the Graduate School Biological Science presented posters about their current research. Unfortunately, not all presenting PhD students could attend in present. For example, Dennis Horvath (AG Groettrup), presented his poster "PLGA-particle based vaccine induces specific antibody and T-cell responses against SARS-CoV-2" online and took the first place of the poster session. Marleen Herbinger (AG Hauck) received the second place with her poster "Selective and Potent small molecule inhibitors for the phosphatase PPM1F" and Soo Hyun Im (AG Kroth) won the third place with her poster "Aureochromes, Unique Photoreceptors in Stramenopiles". All poster prizes were kindly sponsored by the Biology Department. After the poster session, all visitors and poster presenters came together for a barbecue and drinks to celebrate the evening.

Poster Session 2019

Poster Awards for Troung San Phan, Verena Merk and Katharina Ückert

Ten PhD students presented their posters with topics ranging from ecology to plant physiology, pharmacology and immunology, covering all research areas of the Department of Biology. Truong San Phan (Brunner Group) won the first price for his poster with the title „Keratinocytes control immune homeostasis in the skin through de novo synthesized glucocorticoids”; Verena Merk (Brunner Group) with her poster “Extra-adrenal glucocorticoid synthesis in the lung“ and Anna-Katharina Ückert (Leist Group) with her poster “Characterization of dopamine trafficking in mature human neurons“ achieved the second and third prize, respectively. The poster prizes were sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim.
