abstract

Computing systems can now integrate input and output from multiple devices (multi-display environments) and from multiple users. Combining multiple devices and large collaborative displays provides new opportunities to simultaneously increase the bandwidth of visual communication between people and their digital environments and enabling collaborative behaviour. However, these scenarios also require that we reconsider our user interface paradigms to adapt to the constraints of the human perceptual and cognitive systems and to the presence of other collaborators. In this talk I review my work on multi-display environments and co-located collaboration on large displays, providing a series of empirical findings and new interaction techniques that can help the creation of the new generation of co-located digital environments.
