D. M. Monro. Fractal transforms: Complexity versus fidelity. In Image Processing: Theory and Applications, G. Vernazza, A. N. Venetsanopoulos, C. Braccini (eds.), Elsevier Science Publishers, 1993.

Abstract

In this paper the fidelity of approximating images by fractal functions is investigated over a range of complexity options, by combining types of searching with orders of approximation. The implications are discussed for application to picture archiving systems and real time video.
