A. Ibenthal, R.-R. Grigat, A. Dicks. Fourier domain measurement of geometrical scaling factors for fractal image coding and motion compensated prediction. In Proceedings of the International Picture Coding Symposium PCS'97, Berlin, 1997.

Abstract

Affine transform parameters like geometrical scaling and rotation factors play an important role for the image and prediction models which underlie fractal image coding and motion compensated prediction or interpolation of video sequences. Displacement invariant representations of images in the FOURIER domain can be exploited to compute scaling and rotation parametrs. Since the method investigated is invariant with regard to the other parameters of the fractal code and the translations of the motion model, it can be applied prior to any kind of encoding and thus reduce the complexity of the search problem.
