Erasmus+ Staff Week December 3-6, 2018

Third Mission - structures and examples for university social responsibility

The University of Konstanz invites colleagues from  Erasmus+ partner institutions to discuss and elaborate the dimension of civic engagement (also called "third mission") within European universities. Together with the participants we want to look into different structures and examples for university  social responsibility  (USR) and focus on this aspect when introducing the University of Konstanz to our visitors.

We invite up to  20 colleagues from partner institutions who are professionally involved in strategic ideas around "Third Mission",  who are responsible for social responsiblity projects within their institution and all those who are eager to learn more from each other and willing to share ideas of best practise.

Colleagues within Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (partner institutions from Serbia, South Africa, Ukraine, Kosovo, Israel) are invited for a five-day-visit Dec 2-8, 2018.

The programme will include general information about the University of Konstanz and integrate our "International Day" for students (inbound and outbound). With regards to the overall topic, a  key note speach "Third mission: definitions, state of the art, and outlook" will familiarize all participants; followedby some examples of engagement and our approach to Service Learning at the University of Konstanz. To enrich the week with an international perspective, we kindly ask participants to share their best practice with us, e.g. as a poster or in a 20min presentation.

Of course, a cultural programme in the lovely city of Konstanz will be offered - and the agenda will be updated in due course.

The University of Konstanz is one of 11 research oriented universities in Germany, being awarded within the German Excellence Initiative since 2007. It is located in the very south of Germany, the closest international airport is Zurich/Switzerland.

There will be a slight fee of 75€ for participants not presenting. We kindly ask participants to use Erasmus+ funding of their home institution ( E+ ICM funding within the Konstanz budget) for travel and accommodation expenses. Information about accommodation will be shared in due course.

Looking forward to a beneficial week in Konstanz,

the International Office team
