Individual Teaching Consultations
Academic writing competence develops in close connection with subject specific knowledge and overall academic competence. Therefore, students need to be supported in their writing competence beyond introductory offers and have ample opportunity to practice subject specific writing. We are happy to support you if you would like to include more writing aspects in your teaching. This could mean determining goals in the area of writing competence, using writing tasks to improve subject specific learning, integrating peer feedback into your course and designing student tasks that also promote writing. We also offer advice if you would like to use teaching formats that call for texts beyond what is usually expected in academic writing such as text genres in transfer projects in teaching or reflexive texts such as portfolios. Exchange and professional development on promoting writing competence in teaching
In cooperation with the Arbeitsstelle Hochschuldidaktik we plan workshops on matters of writing such as designing tasks that promote both writing and content learning, supervision arrangements, writing intensive courses and designing writing tasks. We also offer inputs on teaching writing via Hochschuldidaktik über Mittag. Please contact us to find out more about our current offers.
We can also create a forum in which lecturers and writing specialists can enter into an exchange about methods of promoting writing competence in subject specific courses and develop these further.
