Where does man end? About the optimisation of man in the age of the life sciences
What is man? Although originally a philosophical question, it has become increasingly important in the life sciences. Bringing together biologists, chemists and computer and information scientists, the life sciences analyse the smallest building blocks of life using some of the largest data sets. Knowledge obtained by the natural sciences - especially the deciphering of genomes - opens up comprehensive insights into human physiology, its evolution and potential ways of modifying it.
