New international contacts

The University of Konstanz’s Zukunftskolleg has joined the network "University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study"

The Zukunftskolleg was officially admitted as a full member to the network “University-Based Institutes for Advanced Study” (UBIAS) during the 5th “UBIAS Directors’ Conference”, which took place in São Paulo from 19 to 23 March 2018. The new members were invited to attend the event entitled “UBIAS in the New World - UBIAS in a New World” by the hosting Institute of Advanced Study based at the Universidade de São Paulo.

Membership in UBIAS enables the Zukunftskolleg to establish new contacts to international partners and promotes connections with similar institutions that will produce new ideas and collaborations. For the Zukunftskolleg researchers, the network offers access to eminent institutions as well as collaborations with international research partners.

UBIAS institutions bring together outstanding researchers from various disciplines, nationalities and academic backgrounds, thus creating a new and innovative environment. They work closely with the universities they belong to, enriching their academic culture and overall scientific achievement. UBIAS was founded in 2010 to promote exchange between institutions in this rapidly growing sector of higher education.

The Zukunftskolleg is a University of Konstanz research facility dedicated to the promotion of early career researchers who have completed their doctorate but have not yet been appointed to a professorship. The goal is to support early career researchers as they start their careers, to provide a creative, international and cross-generational community and to ensure the fellows’ academic independence early on. The Zukunftskolleg offers two- and five-year fellowships, scholarships as well as financial, structural and individual support services. It is funded through the Excellence Initiative and the “Zukunftskolleg Incoming Fellowship Programme Marie Curie” (ZIF-MIC) of the European Union. The Hector Foundation II has funded one fellowship since the beginning of 2018.
