SARS-CoV-2 screening services closed on 30 June 2022
The demand for the SARS-Cov-2 screening has dropped significantly, although the number of infections in Baden-Württemberg is increasing. The financial expense and staffing needed for the screening has been disproportionate to the benefits it provided. As per the Federal Ministry of Health's amended testing regulations, the main focus of tests is now on certain vulnerable groups. Consequently, the Rectorate decided to discontinue the screening service since July 1 and provide rapid antigen tests instead
The university's SARS-CoV-2 screening was developed by Professor Daniel Dietrich and Professor Christof Hauck. The high-quality, CE-IVD certified SARS-CoV-2 RT PCR tests use a method whose results are significantly more reliable than those obtained from standard rapid antigen tests. All positive results were verified through standard tests in certified diagnostic laboratories.
