Whether it is part of your academic career or a stepping stone to a managerial position outside the university: choosing doctoral studies is a major decision.
The Career Service works hand in hand with Academic Staff Development (ASD). Each semester we work together to hold the lecture about choosing doctoral studies: „Per aspera ad astra - Entscheidung für die Promotion”. The information provided in the lecture will help you decide whether doctoral studies are right for you. We also initiated a new event series together which identifies post-doctorate career perspectives outside academia for current and prospective doctoral students. During our regular lunchtime event "Karrieregesprächen über Mittag”, we highlight alternative fields of work and individual career paths after earning a doctorate. The ASD supports young researchers at the University of Konstanz. It was created as part of the Institutional Strategy to Promote Top-Level Research for the Excellence Initiative. The ASD provides a broad spectrum of services for academic and scientific careers. These include comprehensive advice and guidance on all questions related to an academic career as well as current events and detailed information on the topic.
If you decide against an academic career during or after your doctoral studies, or would like to keep both options open, you are free to take advantage of all Career Service advisory services and events.
The University of Konstanz’s doctoral students portal contains all the information you need for completing doctoral studies.
