Previous Surveys

New Student Survey

A student's first two semsters determine the course of their studies. Approximately half of the students who transfer or discontinue their studies decide to transfer or quit within the first two semesters.

In order to determine the reasons for transferring or discontinuing studies, the University of Konstanz needs a comprehensive overview of the students’ initial situation. For this reason, new students were surveyed in 2011 with regards to their prior knowledge and experiences, the general services of the university, as well as student advisory services and the supervision by teaching staff at the University of Konstanz.

Objectives:

  • Gain insight into the study situations of new students.
  • Improve the study conditions at the University of Konstanz.
  • Improve services (including advisory service) at the University of Konstanz.

The study was carried out in cooperation with doctoral students working for the chair of Political Methodology (Nadine Meidert) and the chair of International Relations and Conflict Management (Roos van der Haer) .

Student Survey (SQM)

The University of Konstanz took part in the national student survey “Studienqualitätsmonitor” (Student Quality Monitor, SQM) between 2007 and 2013 . The yearly survey has been carried out since 2007 by the HIS Hochschul-Informations-System GmbH in Hannover and the AG Hochschulforschung (Research Group on Higher Education) at the University of Konstanz.

Objectives:

  • Improve study conditions.

INCHER Graduate Survey

The „International Centre for Higher Education“ (INCHER) at the University of Kassel coordinates a national graduate survey. All former students from a specific graduating class at all partner universities receive a survey approximately every 1,5 to 2 years after completing their studies.

Objectives:

  • Assess study conditions retrospectively.
  • Assess acquisition of skills.
  • Gather data on professional success and career development.
  • Continuously compare (benchmarking) all participating universities (G21, Baden-Wuerttemberg)

Bachelor Graduate Survey

From 2005 until 2009 the Career Service of the University of Konstanz, in cooperation with the Chair of Empirical Social Research (Professor Hinz), has carried out the survey “Studium und Verbleib der Bachelorabsolventen“ (studies and whereabouts of bachelor graduates).
