In 2003, the University of Konstanz was one of the first German universities to introduce the position of junior professor. Since then, ca. 90 junior professors have been appointed (including four junior lecturers). Some of these are tenure track professorships. The evaluation process is entirely transparent and regulated by the Procedural regulations for junior professorships and junior lectureships without tenure track and the Tenure Track Statute, respectively. Junior professors benefit from the university’s “Konstanz Code of Practice for Postdoctoral Researchers”.
