By road

If you want to transport your hazardous goods by road, you must submit an ADR hazardous goods declaration that includes the following information:

  • UN number, preceded by the letters “UN”
  • official designation of the hazardous material
  • category of the material
  • type of packaging
  • number and description of the items
  • quantity
  • name and address of the sender (shipper)
  • name and address of the recipient (consignee)

The ADR hazardous goods declaration must be completed and signed by the hazardous goods officer.

The driver is obliged to carry an “Unfallmerkblatt” (accident information sheet). This directive contains information about what kind of additional equipment the transport vehicle must have and about the measures to take in case of an accident.
If the hazardous goods transport crosses the border into a neighbouring country, the driver must carry the English version of the “Unfallmerkblatt”.

By air


If you want to transport your hazardous goods by air, you must submit a shipper’s declaration that includes the following information:
- UN number
- official designation of the hazardous material/s (in English)
- category of the material
- type of packaging
- number and description of the items (in English)
- quantity
- packaging regulations
- name and address of the sender (shipper, including phone number)
- name and address of the recipient (consignee, including phone number)

The hazardous goods officer must complete and sign two copies of the shipper’s declaration.

When using air transport you must also include an air freight bill. This will be completed by the Zentraler Einkauf/Warenversand unit (university purchasing department/dispatch).

When using air transport, all accompanying documents must be in English.
