People are enthusiastic about science. The “Lange Nacht der Wissenschaft” (long night of the sciences) aims to foster this enthusiasm. With the slogan “Science thrills”, the fourth “Lange Nacht” focuses on what science is all about.
“It’s above all good teachers who make for good schooling”.
Professor Priska Sieber, Rector of Thurgau University of Teacher Education
The Binational School of Education (BiSE) stands for a unique German-Swiss partnership in the field of teacher training. It is an excellent example of how research goes hand in hand with key socio-political topics and provides them with a sound scientific base. The BiSE will be presented on several occasions during the 4th “Lange Nacht der Wissenschaft”. Within the partnership, the BiSE not only utilises the strengths of two different types of university for teacher training but also appreciates the opportunities offered by two learning cultures. The BiSE, as a trans-university teaching and research alliance, links university and non-university facilities. At the launch in early 2016, Theresia Bauer, Minister of Science of the State of Baden-Württemberg wished it “a really significant success story for the future”.

Universities do not float about enraptured with their heads in the clouds. Researchers are people like you and me. They work on real societal problems, like to talk about their work and welcome new ideas.
