The Institution

Founded in 1963, the Dept. of Sociology at the University of Zagreb is the oldest and the largest sociological research and teaching institution in the country. At the moment the Department employs 13 Ph.D. and 2 M.A. teachers and researchers, as well as 5 Ph.D. students. Currently, 3 state funded and 7 non-state funded research project are being carried out by the members of the Department.

Responsibilities within the Project in Croatia

Supervising all research activity in Croatia, elaborating methodology, writing research reports, articles, participating in meetings and conferences on the issue of corruption, disseminating research findings.

 

Qualification for the Accomplishment of the Task

With numerous contributions to Croatian sociology, ranging from socio-cultural aspects of the underground economy, the dynamics of social capital to social reconstruction of community, Prof. Štulhofer, as a distinguished member of the largest sociological research and teaching institution in the country, will certainly be of great advantage for the coordination of the planned research project in Croatia.

Qualification for the Accomplishment of the Task

Along with his wide teaching and research experience in Croatian sociology (urban services and local democracy, poverty, decision making and problem solving in sociology, etc.), Mr. Čaldarović is also highly qualified in international research. Hhe is visiting professor both in the country and abroad --Slovenia, USA, Poland--, and is a counselor in several professional institutions in USA, Austria, Greece. His professional activities indicate amply that his participation in the planned project will be advantageous for the overall project.

With his teaching and research experience both in quantitative and qualitative social research in regard especially to the problems of transition societies (modernization and identity of Croatian society, social knowledge, attitudes and patterns of behaviour, measurement of environmental literacy, etc.), Mr. Kufrin will certainly contribute constructively to the Croatian research team.
