| Living in Switzerland |
|
Rent in Switzerland is generally higher than in Germany. In addition, the exchange rate of Euros to Swiss Franks is unfavorable (100 CHF = ca. 65 EUR). Availability of housing is good. Those who wish to live in Switzerland need official permission from the appropriate Swiss agency. This residence permit, called 'Ausländerbewilligung’ is issued by the municipal governments of the Canton Thurgau. In order to be eligible, it is usually required that one is a citizen of the European Union, no older than 30, and unmarried. An application for residency documents for the Kreuzlingen is available from the University administration (Ms. Rasmussen, Room V 811, Phone 88-2589). The addresses of offices for other municipalities in Thurgau are available at the Kreuzlingen municipal offices (Hauptstr. 62, CH-8280 Kreuzlingen, Phone 0041/71/6776111). |
