CANON SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT
IMPORTANT
This is a legal agreement ("Agreement") between you and Canon Inc. ("Canon") and governing your use of Canon's software programs including the related manuals or any printed material thereof (the "SOFTWARE") for certain Canon's copying machines, printers and multifunctional peripherals (the "Products").
READ CAREFULLY AND UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND RESTRICTIONS DESCRIBED IN THIS AGREEMENT BEFORE INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE. BY CLICKING THE BUTTON INDICATING YOUR ACCEPTANCE AS STATED BELOW OR INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT, DO NOT USE THE SOFTWARE.
1. GRANT OF LICENSE
Canon grants you a personal, limited and non-exclusive license to use ("use" as used herein shall include storing, loading, installing, accessing, executing or displaying) the SOFTWARE solely for the use with Products only on computers directly or via network connected to the Products (the "Designated Computer").
You may allow other users of other computers connected to your Designated Computer to use the SOFTWARE, provided that you must assure that all such users shall abide by the terms of this Agreement and shall be subject to restrictions and obligations borne by you hereunder.
You may make one copy of the SOFTWARE solely for a back-up purpose.
2. RESTRICTIONS
You shall not use the SOFTWARE except as expressly granted or permitted herein, and shall not assign, sublicense, sell, rent, lease, loan, convey or transfer to any third party the SOFTWARE. You shall not alter, translate or convert to another programming language, modify, disassemble, decompile or otherwise reverse engineer the SOFTWARE and you shall not have any third party to do so.
3. COPYRIGHT NOTICE
You shall not modify, remove or delete any copyright notice of Canon or its licensors contained in the SOFTWARE, including any copy thereof.
4. OWNERSHIP
Canon and its licensors retain in all respects the title, ownership and intellectual property rights in and to the SOFTWARE. Except as expressly provided herein, no license or right, express or implied, is hereby conveyed or granted by Canon to you for any intellectual property of Canon and its licensors.
5. EXPORT CONTROL
You agree to comply with all export laws and restrictions and regulations of the country involved, and not to export or re-export, directly or indirectly, the SOFTWARE in violation of any such laws, restrictions and regulations, or without all necessary approvals.
6. SUPPORT AND UPDATE
NEITHER CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS, OR DEALERS NOR CANON'S LICENSORS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING OR HELPING YOU TO USE THE SOFTWARE, OR PROVIDING YOU WITH ANY UPDATES, FIXES OR SUPPORT FOR THE SOFTWARE HEREUNDER.
7. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES AND LIABILITY
[NO WARRANTY] THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE SOFTWARE PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION. SOME STATES OR LEGAL JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, SO THE ABOVE EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE OR JURISDICTION TO JURISDICTION.

[NO LIABILITY FOR DAMAGES] IN NO EVENT SHALL EITHER CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS DEALERS OR CANON'S LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES WHATSOEVER (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS INFORMATION, LOSS OF BUSINESS INTERRUPTION OR OTHER COMPENSATORY, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES) ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE, USE THEREOF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE EVEN IF EITHER CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES OR AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS OR CANON'S LICENSORS HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. SOME STATES OR LEGAL JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR PERSONAL INJURY OR DEATH RESULTING FROM NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE SELLER, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
[RELEASE OF LIABILITY] TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, YOU HEREBY RELEASE CANON, CANON'S SUBSIDIARIES AND AFFILIATES, THEIR DISTRIBUTORS, DEALERS AND CANON'S LICENSORS FROM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO ALL CLAIMS CONCERNING THE SOFTWARE OR ITS USE.
8. TERM
This Agreement is effective upon your acceptance hereof by clicking the button indicating your acceptance as stated below or installing the SOFTWARE and remains in effect until terminated. You may terminate this Agreement by destroying the SOFTWARE including any and all copies thereof.
This Agreement shall also terminate if you fail to comply with any terms hereof. Upon termination of this Agreement, in addition to Canon enforcing its respective legal rights, you must then promptly destroy the SOFTWARE including any and all copies thereof. Cautions, Limitations, and Restrictions
When installing from the installer, some of the functions of the driver may not operate correctly when the driver module is run. If this happens, first quit all applications or restart the operating system, then start the product.
If you have installed a prior version of the printer driver, after installing the new version of the printer driver, delete and reinstall the printer in [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] of [System Preferences].
When registering a printer in [System Preferences], select printer software (PPD) for the same printer model as the one you are using. If you select the wrong PPD, the printer driver will not operate correctly. Also, if you are using the driver in unidirectional communication mode, after registering the printer, set the device options manually in [System Preferences] - [Print & Fax]/[Print & Scan]/[Printers & Scanners] - [Options & Supplies] - [Driver]/[Options]. If these settings and the device options installed in the printer do not match, the printer driver will not operate correctly.
When you print multiple pages on one sheet of paper, or use overlay printing with the binding location specified, the printing area may be shifted slightly or the image may be printed on the gutter area.
If the document is reduced when printing in color, thin lines or dots may not be printed.
When you scale a document, the printout may be incorrect with several unnecessary lines appearing because of a mismatch between the scaling rate and resolution.
When you print the entire workbook for a Microsoft Excel file, the Collated option does not work.
To install the printer driver under a multi-user environment, log on to the computer as Administrator.
When you store a landscape document in the User Inbox of the printer, the staple position displayed on the printer control panel differs from the setting of the printer driver. Also, if you specify the staple position of a landscape document stored in the User Inbox from the printer control panel, the actual staple position of the output document may not correspond with the orientation specified.
When you store a document in the User Inbox of the printer, the printer control panel may not show several settings such as Print Style, Pages per Sheet, or Scale correctly. However, the document is printed with the correct settings.
An error may occur if the following operations are performed during sending a job to a printer:
- Searching for a USB connected printer in the [System Preferences]
- Connecting another USB printer to the computer
- Sending a second job to a different USB printer while a job is being completed at a USB printer
If you cannot correctly obtain printer information when you click the [Printer Information] button in Canon CUPS PS Printer Utility, the printer driver will not operate correctly. If this happens, check the connection between the printer and the computer and click the [Printer Information] button again.
After recovering from a printing error, the dialog box that prompts you to retry the operation may not close depending on the environment you use. In this case, click the Delete Job button in the dialog box.
If you change the setting for Preset in the Print dialog box, an error may occur. In this case, first preview the document, and then print it.
If you are using a printer with bidirectional communication, and have set department ID management at the printer, click the [Printer Information] button in Canon CUPS PS Printer Utility to update the information.
You cannot print documents correctly using Macromedia FreeHand 10.00/FreeHand MX11.00. This problem does not occur if you are using FreeHand MX11.02.
When using the Inserting Sheet option together with printing on both sides of the back cover, and setting the position of the inserted sheet to the one page before of the back cover sheet, the inserted sheet will not be inserted. As the result, the page to be printed on the inserted sheet will be printed on the front side of the back cover sheet.
For example, you get the following result:
Settings:
[Page 1], [Page 2], [Page 3] (Inserted Sheet), [Page 4] (Both side of the back cover)
Result:
[Page 1], [Page 2], [Page 3] (Front side of the back cover), [Page 4] (Back side of the back cover)
When using Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader, if you select the Collate option along with Finishing option and print several copies of the document, Finishing option is applied to all the copies. When using Acrobat 6.0 and selecting [2] or [6] for [Pages per Sheet] in the [Layout] preferences pane, the binding location of the printout will be opposite the position displayed in the Preview area. Also, if you select [Staple] or [Hole Punch] option, the printout will be stapled or hole punched opposite the position displayed in the Preview Area.
If you select a custom paper size, the closest standard paper size may instead be used when printing. If this happens, adjust the paper size slightly.
When using the Copy Set Numbering option for documents in landscape mode, the serial numbers are printed at a 90-degree clockwise or counterclockwise orientation.
Because Argentina Legal is the same paper size as Argentina Oficio, it may not be correctly displayed and selectable by Mac OS X. If you want to specify Argentina Legal, select Argentina Oficio instead.
When adding a printer with a USB connection, if [Auto Select] is selected for [Print Using]/[Use] and a message saying that the printer is available to use is displayed in the pane that opens when you click [+] in [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners], select the printer driver corresponding to the printer you are using from [Print Using]/[Use].
This printer driver works under CUPS (Common Unix Printing System). Up to 32 printers that use CUPS printer drivers can be added in [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] of [System Preferences].
Depending on the application software you use, in the application's own [Print] dialog box, some characters in [Paper Size] may not be displayed correctly. In this case, specify the paper size from the [Print] dialog box of the printer driver.
This printer driver does not support the Printer Pool function. The Printer Pool function is available in Mac OS X 10.3 or later. For more information about the Printer Pool, refer to the Help provided with your Mac OS.
When you select an option other than [None] for [Border] in the [Layout] preferences pane in the [Print] dialog box, the border may not be printed.
If you print a document in landscape orientation with [Z-fold] selected in the [Finishing] preferences pane of the [Print] dialog box, the output sheets may be folded in an undesired direction. If this happens, select the opposite paper feed direction by selecting [Reverse page orientation] in the [Layout] preferences pane in the [Print] dialog box.
When you install this printer driver using the installer, the amount of disk space displayed is less than the actual amount that is needed when installing. Before installing, confirm that your computer has enough free disk space.
When using Adobe products such as Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Reader, configure the print settings using either the print dialog box of the Adobe application you are using or the print dialog box of this product. If you configure settings using both print dialog boxes, the document may not print correctly. If the printing results are not per the settings configured in any one of the print dialog boxes, try configuring the settings using the other print dialog box.
Because Folio is the same paper size as Foolscap, it may not be correctly displayed and selectable by Mac OS X. If you want to specify Folio, select Foolscap instead.
If you are using the imagePRESS C6000, C6000VP, C6010, C6010VP, C7000VP, or C7010VP with the POD deck installed, printing from the stack bypass is not supported, therefore you cannot print on the following paper sizes that can only be printed from the stack bypass:
A5, Statement, Custom Paper Sizes smaller than 182 mm × 182 mm
If you are using Adobe Illustrator CS3 or CS4, and you select [Defined by Driver] in the [Size] pop-up menu in [Media], you may not be able to output the number of copies specified and indicated. If so, select the paper size you want to use in the [Size] pop-up menu.

If you are using the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205/8205 PRO, 8285/8285 PRO, or 8295/8295 PRO with the Staple Finisher Q1 or Booklet Finisher Q1, you cannot output custom paper sizes from 148.0 mm to 181.9 mm (5.83 inches to 7.16 inches).
If you are using the Staple Finisher N1 or the Booklet Finisher N1 with the imageRUNNER ADVANCE 8205/8205 PRO, 8285/8285 PRO, or 8295/8295 PRO, when you set the staple or punch function together with the fold function, the fold function may be given priority and the other function(s) might not be set.
If you are using the imageRUNNER 2520/2520i, 2525/2525i, 2530/2530i, 2535/2535i, or 2545/2545i, and are printing on a custom paper size, a message may be displayed and printing canceled. To avoid this problem, print using paper sizes within the limits of the custom paper sizes supported by the devices.
If you are using the LBP5460 or LBP7750C and set certain specific sizes as custom paper sizes when printing, the printer may print on the default page size (A4 or Letter). If this happens, adjust the height and width of the custom paper size slightly in the [Page Settings] dialog box before printing.
If you are using an Adobe product such as Adobe InDesign or Adobe Illustrator, the page size may appear as illegible characters in the [Print] dialog box of the application. If this happens, confirm the page size in the [Paper Handling] preferences pane before printing.
When printing to a printer connected via USB, if you disconnect and reconnect the USB cable or open the [Add Printer] dialog box from [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] in [System Preferences], the document you are printing may be printed incorrectly. If this happens, cancel printing from the control panel of the printer. If printing cannot be started by clicking the print button, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable to the printer.
If you are using an Adobe product such as Adobe Reader, and set [Pages per Sheet] in the [Layout] preferences pane to other than [1], the document may not be printed. If this happens, select [Multiple pages per sheet] for [Page Scaling] and specify the number of pages using the [Pages per sheet] setting in the [Copies & Pages] preferences pane, or print the document using Preview.
If you are using the imageRUNNER 1133/1133A/1133iF, D1300 Series, LC600 Series, or MF5900 Series, and save a secured print job in the device, other print jobs may not print. If this happens, output the stored secured print job. If you still cannot print the other print jobs, reprint them from the computer.
If you specify the number of copies in [Copies], and specify a setting other than [None] for [Print Cover Page] in the [Cover Page] preferences pane, the same number of cover pages will be printed as that specified for [Copies].
If you select [2] or higher for [Pages per Sheet] in the [Layout] preferences pane, and specify a setting other than [None] for [Border], some of the print data may not be printed due to the space required for the border.
If you select [2] or higher for [Pages per Sheet] in the [Layout] preferences pane, and select [Flip horizontally], the print result may be shifted.
If you are part of an Active Directory, confirm that the FQDN of the Active Directory is at the beginning of the search domain set in [Search Domains] in the [Network] settings in [System Preferences].
Although you do not need to restart after installing the driver, if you have Mac OS X Classic installed, restart the computer after installation.
The default setting for [Print Style] for some printers that support two-sided printing is [2-sided Printing]/[Two-Sided Printing].
Print jobs may print incorrectly if you perform stop and restart or hold and restart in the print queue dialog box. If this happens, delete the remaining jobs in the print queue and print them again.
After updating the operating system, you may not be able to use printers that were added prior to the update. If this happens, delete the printer queue and add the printers again.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you may not be able to select the preferences pane pull-down menu in the [Print] dialog box, or the application may force quit. If this happens, restart the application. Also, save the data before opening the [Print] dialog box.
If you are using Adobe Photoshop CS 5.1, you may not be able to open the [Print Settings] dialog box. If this happens, change [Printer] to an output destination whose [Print Settings] dialog box you can open, open the [Print Settings] dialog box and save the print settings, and select the printer you want to use from the [Print] dialog box.
When you drag and drop a file to the print queue for printing, the print result may be incorrect. If this happens, open the file in the application you used to create it and print the file from there.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.7 or later, the paper size previously displayed as "Statement" is now displayed as "Invoice".
If you are using the Document Insertion/Folding Unit with unidirectional printing, set the following.
1.Click [System Preferences] - [Print & Fax]/[Print & Scan]/[Printers & Scanners].
2.Select the printer you are using and click [Options & Supplies].
3.Enable [Insertion Unit] and [Paper Folding Unit] under [Driver] or [Options].
* If you are using the Document Insertion Unit, enable [Insertion Unit] only.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.7, and re-register a printer after deleting it using [Reset printing system] in the [Print & Scan] dialog box, the printer may be automatically registered with unidirectional communication, without the communication method dialog box being displayed. If this happens, restart the computer, delete the printer that was registered with unidirectional communication using the [-] button in the [Print & Scan] dialog box, then re-register the printer.
The Online Help may not be displayed when you click the [?] button in the Print dialog box. If this happens, you can access the Online Help from the Help Viewer. Select [PS Printer Driver Help] from the [Library] menu in the Help Viewer.
If the USB cable connection to the printer is disconnected while a print job is being sent to the printer, the print job may not be printed correctly. If this happens, reprint the print job after checking the USB cable connection to the printer.
Depending on the printer model you are using, performance of your Macintosh and the data you are printing, printing may not start or may stop due to a timeout error. In this case, specify a longer timeout period or select Off in the Error Time Out setting under Printer Settings on the control panel of the printer.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.5.8, and set an unsupported long paper size for printing, the print job will stop but an error message will not be displayed. If this happens, verify that the correct long paper size is specified, and then reprint the print job.
Before registering a printer in [System Preferences], make sure you correctly set [System Preferences] - [Language & Text] - [Formats] - [Region]. If the region is not set correctly, the printer driver may not operate correctly.
Because this driver supports multiple languages, depending on your system environment, options not supported by the printer may be selectable on the driver configuration screen. In this case, only settings for options that are actually attached to the printer can be enabled.
When registering a printer after installation, similar driver names such as "Canon iPR C1 PS" and "Canon iPR C1 PS (UK)/Canon iPR C1 PS (US)" may be displayed at the stage where you need to select a driver. If this happens, select the name without "(UK)/(US)" (e.g. "Canon iPR C1 PS").
If your printer also has PostScript printing function, follow the steps below to add a printer via a USB connection.
1. Open the [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] from [System Preferences].
2. Turn on your printer then connect it to the computer with a USB cable.
3. Click the [+] in the [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] in [System Preferences].
(If the printer you want to use is registered as "Generic PostScript Printer" in the [Kind] column, steps 4 to 7 below are unnecessary.)
4. Select [Default] in the printer registration dialog box, then select [Generic PostScript Printer] from the [Print Using]/[Use].
5. Click [Add].
6. Click [Configure].
7. Click [Continue] without performing any operations in the configuration settings window of the PPD.
8. Add the printer using the [Print & Fax], [Print & Scan] or [Printers & Scanners] from [System Preferences] as instructed in the Canon PS Printer Driver Guide.
9. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the computer and the printer two or more times.
10. When you print, select the printer added in step 8.
NOTE:
If you have deleted the Generic PostScript Printer, delete the printer that you added in step 8, then follow the procedure from steps 1 to 7 again.
If the printer starts to print during the above procedure, cancel the print job on the panel of the printer.
If you are using Mac OS X 10.6.x or earlier, and register a printer shared under Windows via an SMB connection, the print setting of printers whose default is 2-sided printing may become 1-sided printing.
When you update Mac OS X, you may not be able to acquire the device information from [Printer Information] in the Canon CUPS PS Printer Utility. If this happens, set the device options manually in [System Preferences] - [Print & Fax]/[Print & Scan]/[Printers & Scanners] - [Options & Supplies] - [Driver]/[Options].
If you use Mac OS X 10.10 or later, delete the printer(s) from [System Preferences] – [Printers & Scanners], then install the latest version of the driver and add the printer(s) again.
In a Mac OS X 10.9 or earlier operating system, if you install the latest version of the driver, and register and use a printer from [System Preferences] - [Print & Fax]/[Print & Scan]/[Printers & Scanners], then update to the latest operating system, you may not be able to use such functions as Department ID Management that utilize bidirectional communication between the device and the computer.
In such cases, click [Printer Information] in the Canon CUPS PS Printer Utility.
