Semantic full-text search combines classical full-text search with search in knowledge databases aka ontologies. An example query would be to find all female german professors working in a particular research area. Google will not be of much help for such a query, unless there is a web page with exactly that contents. And a general-purpose ontology is unlikely to contain all the information required to answer this query. I will explain this in more detail and how it differs from other approaches claiming to be "semantic". I will point out some of the underlying algorithmic problems, especially with respect to scalability, and some of our current solutions. And I will demonstrate our current prototype. All this is fairly recent and IMO exciting work in progress.
