One of key benefits of XML is its ability to represent both structured
and unstructured(text) data. Although current XML query languages such
as XQuery/XPath can express rich queries over structured data, they lack
IR-related features for querying over text data. In this talk, we will
present TeXQuery, a full-text extension to XQuery, which provide a rich
set of composable full-text search primitives. TexQuery enable users to
query over both structured and text data simultaneously by seamlessly
embedding these TeXQuery primitives in XQuery data model. Furthermore,
TexQuery supports diverse implementation-dependent scoring mechanisms
through a common interface and we will discuss a flexible IR scoring
mechanism in XML.
