abstract In recent years the amount of protein sequence data that was collected has been constantly growing. Often alignments and statistical methods are used to analyse a set of sequences. Thereby one of the biologically interesting questions is to find out if and how many correlations between the residues of a protein exist. In this talk I will present our first approaches to support the search for correlated residues with the help of a visual exploration tool and address the question of how reliable the used alignments in general are.
